Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale – Coming Soon!

Everyone loves a good cupcake, right? Right?!

The whole week of April 23rd-30th has been dubbed the Worldwide vegan bakesale, which essentially means a great big excuse to gorge ourselves on lovely treats (pure research of course), with the added bonus of raising money for a local, or national, vegan charity. I just got word that Victoria, BC, my home for just two more weeks (eeK!) is hosting their very own Worldwide Vegan Bakesale event at Tattoo Zoo. This is the place run by Sarah Kramer of ‘Go Vegan’ fame, where they use vegan tattoo inks and are generally very lovely. April 30th 12-4pm at Tattoo Zoo will see a whole host of vegans and non-vegans bringing tasty baked goods to help raise money for Friends of Animals in Victoria. Last year the combined efforts of local Victorians raised over $1000, and this year’s fundraising will all go towards printing and publishing costs for FoA’s Vegan Starter Guides to be distributed in Victoria. Self-perpetuating, no?

As April 30th is my last day before the big move back to Vancouver, who I believe are having their Worldwide vegan bake sale this coming weekend (23rd April at Karmavore), I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to whip up some coconut raspberry cupcakes… especially as my silicon cupcake moulds are already in the new place in Vancouver… perhaps I can improvise and just bake a huge number of cookies instead. We’ll see how the packing progresses, but suffice it to say that I will be popping down to Tattoo Zoo on Wharf St (near the seafront), to pick up a pile of goodies for the ferry trip later. Nom nom nom.

What are you up to for WorldWide Vegan Bakesale? If there’s no event nearby then pull your (non-wool) socks up and get organising, you’ve still time! Check out listings for your country, province, state, or city here.
